Do you feel melancholy or intense sadness? If you do, you may have depression. Depression affects normal functioning and causes a disruption in life. Natural remedies options that are available for treating depression include diet control, and herbal supplements and homeopathy. Unlike drugs that are prescripted, there are not any side effects using natural remedies.
All medication that treat depression usually attempt to correct the supply of neurotransmitters that conduct nerve impulses.
Prescribed medications always present a risk of under rectification or over correction. Hence, some drugs are prescribed to counter the side effects that antidepressants are likely to create. Some soporific drugs are also administered to induce peaceful sleep.
In some cases the side effects of prescripted medications surface even before the medication has had a chance to take effect. In such cases, the medication should not be given up. Rather managing the side effects is the challenge that needs to be faced but it can be done with some adjustments. For example, dry mouth is a very common side effect that can be managed by sipping water or brushing teeth regularly. Another side effect is constipation which can be handled by increasing the intake of fiber.
Other side effects like drowsiness, difficulty in urination and reduced vision are only temporary and should be managed until the time that they remain.
Another side effect that may bother mem especially is sexual dysfunction. This needs to be discussed extensively with your physician.
The latest drugs are considered better than the older ones. But they come with their own set of side effects. The most common ones are headaches, nausea, nervousness and insomnia. However, most of these side effects are temporary in nature and go away with time on their own.
Natural remedies for depression do not have any side effects. In fact, some naturally remedies for treating depression can help in alleviating the effect of side effects caused by conventional medication.
All side effects should be brought to the notice of your physician. It is very important, however that you do not stop taking your medications unless recommended by the doctor since withdrawal can sometimes be worst.
A good physician will suggest ways in which you can cope with the side effect. He will also counsel you on certain behavioral aspects of the side effect warning you in advance of the things to come. A physician, however, will not usually tell you about natural remedies that are available to treat depression.
