How To Choose A Fiber-Rich Cereal For Relief From Constipation

How to choose a fiber-rich cereal for relief from constipation.
When you are looking for relief from constipation, check out the kitchen pantry. The information printed on a box of cereal will tell you just what you need to know the fix the problem, naturally.
Understand the label. A cereal high in insoluble bran fiber helps the food you eat move quickly through your digestive system. Not only is this a natural solution to irregularity, it may even help prevent diverticulosis and some cancers.
A few things to check are:
1. number of carbs (should be less than 30 grams).
2. number of fiber grams per serving - do NOT go by the name of the cereal.
3. the more sugar in a cereal, the less room for fiber.
4. do not assume that the varieties of a certain brand are the same.
Consider the other nutrients. Bran is just the fibrous outer shell of the grain. For the most nutritious cereal, choose one that is made from the whole grain. Read the labels to see what other nutrients are offered, but do not give up fiber for extra vitamins and minerals. Afterall, you can get those with a daily supplement.
Some cereals have the vitamins and minerals sprayed on the out side. To get the benefits of these nutrients, drink all the milk you pour over the cereal. Do not leave them dissolved in the milk at the bottom of the bowl.
Munch with more crunch. Raisin bran cereal helps keep you regular since both the bran and the raisins have fiber. To keep the cereal crunch, why not buy a plain high fiber bran cereal and add the raisins to your bowl separately?
Remember, many experts today recommend eating at least 30 grams of fiber a day.
